Introduction
Digital Signage is comprised of screen that is installed in public spaces and it provides the ability to remote manage these screens over the LAN, WAN, VPN or across the WEB. Digital signs are typically used to entertain, inform or advertise.Digital Signage, narrowcasting, retail TV, captive audience network are all scary BIG words designed to make a simple technology expansive and seem more complex than it really is. Well, MediaSignage is changed all that. With MediaSignage you can get up and running in no time. You open your account on the mediaCLOUD and it's all FREE.
Digital Signage is all about content presentation that replaces static signs. The content is dynamic and can be changed from a central location through a web interface. Digital Signage normally splits the screens into different divisions (also known as screen regions or zones). The screen divisions can dynamically change during playback and may show content that may or may not be relevant to the other screen areas.
Major benefits of digital signs over traditional static signs are that the content can be changed without effort, animations can be shown, the signs can adapt to the context and audience, and even be interactive (also known as Kiosk).
Digital signage advertising is a form of out-of-home advertising in which content and messages are displayed on digital signs, typically with the goal of delivering targeted messages to specific locations at specific times. Digital signage offers superior return on investment compared to traditional printed signs. Digital Signage doesn't have to be expensive, complicated or hard to integrate.

Until MediaSignage came along, Digital Signage was very expansive. Companies charge thousands of dollars for leasing, licensing or purchasing Digital Signage software and hardware. The SignageStudio is a FREE application based on an open source Apache standard which allows you to manage your signage presentation anywhere. It runs inside browsers and across operating systems via the SignageStudio Web and Desktop versions.
The SignageStudio Desktop and Web versions are almost identical, however the SignageStudio Desktop version is an install application and so it does operate a bit faster and recommended for prolong usage. Both the SignageStudio Web and Desktop versions are FREE.
The SignagePlayer Web version allows you to run your signage presentation inside a web browser and in most operating system including Windows (all versions), Mac and Linux. It is intended mostly for previewing or for linking to your signage presentation from within a web site (embedded SignagePlayer web version).
The SignagePlayer Desktop and Mobile versions are designed for long playbacks on a dedicated Digital Signage computer. You can remote control the SignagePlayer Desktop and Mobile versions from the SignageStudio. The SignagePlayer can run with or without internet connectivity. The SignagePlayer Desktop, Web and Mobile versions are all based on an open source Apache model and are all FREE.With MediaSignage you can purchase any hardware to install and operate the SignagePlayer Desktop version; as long as it meets the minimum hardware requirements. We recommend a 2.7GHz Dual Core 2 Intel processor with 1GB of memory and 60GB hard drive as the baseline for the SignagePlayer Desktop version. This includes any **PC using any **OS ( Mac, Linux, Windows).
Use any PC / device that you feel is best to match your presentation requirements. Remember that heavier presentation which includes lots of HD content and moving animation may require better hardware specifications. You should also take a look at our recommended the device, the mediaBOX.
Many people are unaware of how to physically install and build a Digital Signage network. Once again, this is a simple easy process. You can get a wall mount for your any LCD / LED / screen and mount it at the location. If HDMI is used to connect between the PC and the screen you can put the PC up to 50ft away without any loss of signal. You can also get an HDMI to Cat-5 converter and extend beyond 50ft.The PC running the SignageStudio Desktop version needs to be connected to the LCD / LED screen as well as to the internet. All content management is done through the SignageStudio. The SignagePlayer will cache all the content so even if the internet connection is lost, no interruption will be evident to your audience.
MediaSignage makes Digital Signage easy, affordable and available to everyone. So you no longer have any excuses to put your Digital Signage project on hold. The software is FREE, the hardware is inexpensive, content creation is a snap and installation is a breeze. So what are you waiting for, get into Digital Signage and get your message out there!
